Integrated Pest Management Policy

In 2019 the Board of Directors passed a resolution to ban the use of Glyphosate on District Property. An Integrated Pest Management Policy (IPMP) has been created to define the intent and procedures of future usage of pesticides, herbicides, and rodenticides on District properties.

An IPMP should alleviate pest problems with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment. The policy includes the following sections:

  • A list of approved pesticides for use when required. Products will be selected after careful consideration of hazards. The list will be reviewed annually by the IPM Coordinator and Environmental Committee. A complete annual report should be provided to the Board of Directors & the Environmental Committee for review. (Sec. 2, 4 & 6)
  • Proper training & education for staff and the public. Any herbicide usage should follow recommended guidelines and have signage in locations of treatment. (Sec. 5, 9 & 10)
  • Establish guidelines for all pest problems and antimicrobial usage on District property (Sec. 7 & 8)
  • Exemptions should be identified and the IPM coordinator should be alerted of any usage in early stage design. (Sec. 3 & 11)

This IPMP follows the County of Santa Cruz’s policy and other agencies with similar goals.
