Water Main Break Update: A decades-old water main in downtown Boulder Creek that was weeks away from replacement failed twice on Wednesday, resulting in a water outage for many customers. Crews worked through the night and now anticipate all affected customers will be back in water by late Thursday.

Less than 200 District customers were issued boil water notices because of the water main breaks. Impacted customers were hand-delivered a boil water notice and will receive a second hand-delivered notice when water service is restored. The affected area is isolated to downtown Boulder Creek including the following neighborhood streets: Azalea Ave, Big Basin Way, Boulder St, Harmon St, Hazel Ave, Hillside Terrace, Laurel St, Lomond St, Oak St, Pine St, Redwood Ave and parts of Highway 9. All homes that were affected received hand-delivered notices, if you did not receive a notice, you were not affected.

The Boil Water Notice (4/17/24) can be reviewed here.

The water service disruption occurred on an aged water main that is in the process of being replaced. The Lyon & Big Steel Zone Pipeline Improvement Project replaces 12,000 feet of undersized water main, starting from Lyon Tank, located off Madrone Drive in Boulder Creek. The new pipeline will run down Highway 236 to Boulder Creek, where it will follow Lomond Street to Irwin Way, where it will connect to the District's backbone water distribution main.

The 12-inch pipeline, made of high-strength, long-lasting iron, will greatly improve the flow of water needed for firefighting and customer use. Additionally, the increased capacity will allow the District to move a greater volume of water from one end of the Valley to the other as needed to ensure a more reliable water supply for customers.
