Yes. SLVWD's District Ordinance No.102 provides a one-time
leak adjustment per account, applied to one billing period.
To apply for a one-time leak adjustment, please submit
your written request and proof of repairs to our Customer
Service Department. Proof of repairs can consist of a
repair bill, receipt for parts or a picture of the repairs.
Upon determining that the leak has been repaired, your
bill for the affected billing period may be adjusted by
fifty percent (50%) of the usage in excess of your annual
average bi-monthly usage.
What if I am not satisfied with the charges on my bill?
Customers
who have complaints concerning their water bills may write
a letter to the Finance Manager.
When are you reading my meter next?
SLVWD
reads meters approximately every 60 days.
What causes my water to be discolored?
Occasionally
when well water flows through distribution pipes, traces
of minerals in the water combine with oxygen and instead
of remaining dissolved, they settle out of the water as
fine particles which build up in the pipes - both in the
water system and in your home or business. Usually these
harmless particles will remain settled on the inside of
the pipes, but a sudden change in water flow can stir
up the particles, causing the water to become a rusty
color. The discoloration will usually disappear after
a few hours. To find out if the discoloration is coming
from the water system or your own pipes, check the water
from an outside faucet. If it is discolored, it is coming
from the water system and you should call the Water District
(831)338-2153 to make sure we are aware of the situation.
If the water is clear outside and discolored inside the
house, the discoloration is from your pipes and you should
simply run the water for three to five minutes for it
to clear.
